This program aims to nurture game development talents and to promote the digital entertainment industry. Small & medium enterprises and educational institutes will be the target participating entities of this program. We look forward to bring the fun of creativity in an amiable atmosphere to all participants.

Application Criteria & Method

Qualifications/Requirements:

¡P          Small and medium sized enterprises in the digital media industry (excluding the existing Xbox developers).

¡P          Post-graduate and final-year students from tertiary education institutions.

¡P          The proposal must be written in English.

¡P          Applicant can be an individual, a team or a HK registered company.

¡P          Each individual, team or registered company can submit one proposal only.

¡P          Applicants warrant and represent that the proposals submitted have not been released or distributed previously.

 

 

Materials to submit:

The following documents should be included in the submission sent on or before 31 Dec 2004.

  1. Completed application form from our web site with proof of identity (e.g. photocopies of student ID cards for students, photocopies of business registrations for companies).
  2. CD-ROM/DVD-ROM

¡P          Readable with a PC running English Windows 2000/XP.

¡P          Include a ¡§readme.txt¡¨ text file listing your names and title, contents of your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and the instructions of playing your demo.

¡P          Write clearly on the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM with a non-erasable marker your names and the title of your application.

¡P          The CD-ROM/DVD-ROM should contain the electronic copy of your game proposal (pdf format preferred) and the completed application form.

¡P          Demo of your concept in Flash, video or web pages. If special players are needed, please include them.

  1. Proposal

¡P          It should be written in English.

¡P          It should be printed on A4-size white papers.

¡P          Except the title page, it should be written in a way that no identities of the applicants or their associated institutions/companies are implied or revealed. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

  3. Prepare the materials in 7 copies and put them with the application form in a large envelope.

Evaluation

Panel of judges

¡P          Composition includes representatives from Xbox, experts from the industry of games publishing and researchers from educational institutes.

¡P          The organizer will decide the composition of the judging panel and each judge will need to declare if there is any conflict of interest prior to the judging process.

Terms and Conditions

¡P          By sending in the applications, applicants hereby agree to abide by the rules of the programme and the Terms and Conditions.

¡P          Applicants must form companies, registered in Hong Kong, for game development purpose. Once the post-graduate and final year undergraduate students have won, they have to attach to either a company, a university spin-off entity or set up their own companies as a pre-requisite to continue the game development in the incubation centre.

¡P          Applicants warrant and represent that the proposals submitted are sole, exclusive and original works of the applicants and have not been paid, released or otherwise distributed.

¡P          Organizer is not obliged to return proposals / materials submitted by the entrants and shall not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by the entrants as a result of the delivery of the proposals / materials to organizer or the use by organizer.

¡P          Winners must join the PR activities organized by the organizer during the development phase.

¡P          Organizer has the free right to use submitted work for the purpose of promotions and demonstrations.

¡P          Staff from the Organizer, Evaluation Panel, Technical Advisor and Sponsor is not eligible to enter this competition.

¡P          Each team entering the competition must appoint a project leader. The development right is transferable only if the winning project leader remains as the leader in the game development stage. The organizer will determine if the winning team is incapable to complete the development and make the final approval if such circumstance arises.

¡P          The winning teams have to sign the Xbox Development Kit Non-disclose agreement and they have to agree to finish their games in the Xbox incubation centre at the Digital Media Centre from Jan. to Dec. 2005.

¡P          The organizers reserve the rights to change the rules, terms and conditions at any time.

¡P          If there is any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions, English version should constitute the correct version.
