Description :
This big-data era is greatly challenging traditional Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Though most of them have installed ERP systems for data collection and management, they still rely highly on human experience to make decisions in production, logistics, and many other frequently encountered scenarios. This experience-based mode fails to fully utilize data and responds slowly to emergencies. Therefore, manufacturer owners face a pressing need of a more systematic and data-driven approach for decision making. However, existing solutions are inadequate. Consultancy firms lack technical support, while collaborating scholars from universities cannot deliver practical systems. Moreover, foreign Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) systems are too general to satisfy their specific needs.
In response to this urgent market need, we apply frontier Operations Research (OR) technology to empower enterprises to achieve better data-driven strategies. By converting practical problems to certain mathematical models and then solving for optimal solutions, OR returns an optimized strategy based on that solution. This data-to-decision process is automatic, dynamic, and more efficient. For example, based on real data, we developed a smart scheduling system for a steel manufacturer, which precisely modelled in-situ production. It can automatically generate optimized daily scheduling plans within only seconds, in contrast to the 4-hour duration previously required. This not only provides a plan with higher production efficiency, but also enables fast emergency response. Our system can serve as the intelligent brain for enterprises, offering dynamic data-driven solutions for various scenarios.
In summary, our position is to supply industry-specific optimization systems. Based on intensified field study, we can identify each client’s pain points and then tailor-make systems with best performance and practical improvement for that industry. Compared to general APS, our system is customized, flexible, and with a lower charge. Such systems can be further sold to other enterprises in the same industry, resulting in scalability.
