Quokka: bringing happiness to workplace by rewarding staff with digital coins ![]() It is no secret that workplace positivity breeds productivity, loyalty, and staff satisfaction.
Quokka, a CCMF grantee and Cyberport Smart-Space company, has launched an employee engagement system that lets companies recognise, reward, engage, and empower their staff in a manner fit for the digital age.
Taking its name after the adorable and always grinning Australian marsupial known as “the happiest animal on earth”, Quokka enables companies to ramp up their employee benefits affordably with some refreshing digital fun.
Quokka’s gamified system allows managers to set challenges and reward staff with “Quokka coins” for meeting performance goals or attaining new skillsets. Co-workers can also send Quokka coins and appreciation badges to each other to recognise contributions or express gratitude.
Employees with Quokka coins can redeem perks and discounts from Quokka’s partnered merchants for items or services within the categories of wellness, lifestyles, dining, insurance, and knowledge or exchange them for company benefits, such as extra holiday leaves.
Quokka’s analytics will also allow employers, team leads and HR to gain clearer insights instantly on such as employee happiness, performance or skillset gaps without having to rely on traditional performance reviews. This makes it easier for companies to engage staff and to boost productivity.
Founded in 2017, Quokka’s early adopters include New World Development and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It provides services to various start-ups, SMEs, universities, and NGOs to offer customised features to address the employee engagement needs of different sectors. Quokka is already up and running and has already signed up 30 merchant partners to provide benefits to Quokka’s users.
