Cyberport leads start-ups to SmartHK 2019 for cross-border tech exchange along Greater Bay Area and Belt & Road ![]() Following the success of SmartHK 2018, Cyberport will be leading a delegation of start-ups to attend the SmartHK 2019 conference in Guangzhou later in August.
The event is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to showcase Hong Kong’s expertise in tech and business support and to examine how Hong Kong can contribute to developing the Greater Bay Area into an innovation and technology (I&T) hub.
Apart from large-scale forums, seminars, exhibitions, business-matching, and other engagement activities, seven Cyberport community companies are going to exhibit together under the Cyberport pavilion. They include Easy Purchase Limited (e-commerce), P-Sense Limited (indoor behavioural data analytics), AQUMON (Magnum) (FinTech – robo-advisor), Wildfaces.ai (on-the-move facial recognition), IX Fintech (FinTech – options trading), InstaRem Limited (FinTech – money transfer), and unspun, inc. (apparel additive manufacturing). The start-ups will also participate in the “Smart+” pitching and matchmaking events and will meet with investors from the Guangzhou Province.
In addition, Alice So, Cyberport’s Head of Entrepreneurship, will speak at a thematic seminar entitled “Innotech Ecosystem” to explore Hong Kong’s role in promoting I&T in the Greater Bay Area.
Alice will share Cyberport’s efforts and experience in nurturing start-ups, facilitating the digital technology ecosystem, building collaborative networks with partners and investors around the globe, and propagating innovation and technology in Hong Kong.
“When we incubate start-ups, we always emphasise that they should strive to be globally minded and market-ready to capture larger markets and greater growth opportunities. For this reason, many of our start-ups, including those that are joining the delegation, offer products and services that are readily applicable to the Greater Bay Area and along the Belt and Road.” Said Alice. “We are happy to share our success stories in cultivating start-ups, building I&T ecosystems, and connecting our start-ups to the world at the conference and to contribute our expertise to the region’s development into an international I&T hub.”
Cyberport is the Hong Kong Partner of SmartHK 2019, a supporting organisation of the thematic seminar, and a co-organiser of the “Smart+” pitching session.
