ASEAN opportunities explored at Digital Thailand Big Bang and Innospace Cyberport Demo Day

Just as the FinTech start-ups headed to London, 10 other start-ups from the Cyberport community headed to Bangkok for the annual mega Digital Thailand Big Bang 2019 to showcase their solutions to participants from Thailand, ASEAN countries, and around the world.

 

In addition to exhibiting at the Cyberport Pavilion, five of the start-ups joined the Innospace Cyberport Demo Day to pitch their solutions to potential Thai and ASEAN investors and partners. This event was the largest collaboration between Cyberport and Innospace upon the signing of the memorandum of understanding early this year to strengthen bilateral support for start-ups.

 

The Demo Day gathered five start-ups from Hong Kong and Thailand respectively for project pitches and arranged one-on-one business matching meetings with potential investors and partners.

 

The start-ups met with representatives from the banking, aviation, telecom, catering, energy, and health industries to elaborate on their ideas and to explore investment opportunities and partnership, paving the way for further expansion in Thailand and along the Belt and Road regions.

 

Start-ups that pitched at Demo Day included CoverGo, an insurance product comparison platform; Riskflo and BAM FinTech, both FinTech start-ups; P-Sense, a developer of WiFi sensors, and Origami Labs, a wearables/IoT developer. The other start-ups that joined included ESG Matters (AI/big data), ixFintech (FinTech), Transwap (FinTech), Carbon World (IoT), and Time Creation (healthcare).

 

All start-ups participating at the Digital Thailand Big Bang also gained great exposure and exchange in visiting RISE Accelerator, meeting the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok and Techsauce, and joining the networking dinner with the Thai-Hong Kong Trade Association. 

 

Digital Thailand Big Bang is organised by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and it is one of the largest digital tech symposiums in Southeast Asia.  Cyberport strives to accelerate the start-up community to succeed and shine on the international stage.
