Cyberport and the Authority of Qianhai inked MoU to boost opportunities and support for start-ups

To open up more entrepreneurial and business opportunities for start-ups and enrich the I&T ecosystem for the Greater Bay Area (GBA), Cyberport and the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (the Authority) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and announced a number of new support initiatives.

Under the MoU, Cyberport’s start-ups can enjoy the Authority’s landing services and policy support when they develop GBA markets. Projects funded by the Cyberport Creative Macro Fund, Cyberport Incubation Programme, Cyberport Accelerator Support Programme, or Overseas/Mainland Market Development Support Scheme may gain opportunity to receive match funding on a 1:1 basis to give them greater ammunition to unlock Mainland opportunities.

Cyberport will also co-organise more start-up activities and events with the Authority to encourage exchange among their peers from Mainland and foster cross-border collaboration in technological innovation.

Meanwhile, the Authority will refer outstanding companies in Qianhai to land in Cyberport. In addition to offering these companies a window to go global via Hong Kong, this will enrich and add to the sustainable development of the start-up ecosystems of Hong Kong and the GBA.

At the same time, start-ups in Shenzhen and the GBA can use Cyberport as an international springboard to expand into Southeast Asia and international markets.”

We hope that, in the future, Qianhai can enhance its role as a key driver of cross-border cooperation, helping Hong Kong enterprises expand into the Mainland, and boost connectivity to build the core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.”
