Cyberport launched iTalent and Digital Tech Recruits to bolster I&T talent acquisition

⋯⋯⋯⋯

Many companies having strong hiring needs often find it difficult to reach out to the right talents due to a lack of financial and human resources.  Cyberport has announced the official launch of its new integrated I&T talent acquisition platform “iTalent” to provide career opportunities for young people with aspirations to join the I&T industry.

Leveraging the experience in hosting annual career fairs, Cyberport’s “iTalent” will enable over 1,650 community companies to match suitable talents with job vacancies in FinTech, Smart Living, Digital Entertainment and Esports clusters in a cost-effective way. It features job search, job recommendations/reminders, CV generator for downloadable PDF, profile strength meter, practical job interview tips, experience sharing from past internship participants, as well as free learning resources from tech giants like AWS, Google and Microsoft.

The platform is developed with technological support from Cyberport start-up GetLinks (an HR Tech investee under the Cyberport Marco Fund), using AI and big data to analyse and match recruiters and jobseekers’ needs,  thereby expediting the recruitment process with higher success rate.   In future, this sustainable I&T talent-matching solution will gradually include more career and training programmes to benefit jobseekers.

Another important initiative to facilitate I&T talent acquisition is the “Digital Tech Recruits” scheme, where Cyberport joined hands with the Labour Department and Employees Retraining Board (ERB) in providing 100 tech-related work placements to ERB trainees who have completed or are currently enrolled in “Innovation and Technology” training course.

Participants of the “Digital Tech Recruits” will be matched with Cyberport community companies according to their knowledge in “ABCDE” (the mnemonic “ABCDE” stands for Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Big Data and eCommerce). During the placement, these companies will provide participants with on-the-job training, and assign an experienced staff member to be their mentor.  Cyberport Academy will work with these community companies to organise career orientation and technology skills training, providing a complete development path in the I&T industry for participants to consider.

Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport said, “Talent cultivation is one of Cyberport’s most important public missions.  We will continue to strengthen cooperation with governments, universities and the business community to provide more development opportunities and actively expand Hong Kong’s I&T talent pool.”

Dr David Chung, Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology remarked at the launch ceremony, “The stage for I&T is indeed very large, and it extends beyond Hong Kong. I call on young entrepreneurs and companies to seek opportunities outside our city, especially in the mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area.”
