JiPay brings domestic work into the cashless economy

⋯⋯⋯⋯

Household expenses like groceries, payroll for domestic helper, or sending remittances are still commonly cash based.  However, constant ATM trips, manual accounting and the health risk of handling unclean paper notes are all issues that impede transaction ease and living quality.

Grantee of Cyberport Creative Micro Fund JiPay’s innovative platform enables households to go cashless and take better control of household spending.  With operation based out of London, Hong Kong and Singapore, the start-up’s pilot product, the JiPay Expense Card, is a dedicated card for domestic helpers to make purchases on behalf of their employers.  Employers can top up the card via an app, set budgets and spending limits, and monitor purchases online in real-time.  The app also keeps track of spending across weeks and months and offers analytics broken down by merchants and categories for better expenses management.  Gone are the days of having so much hassle in handling cash and the tedious bookkeeping, this innovation helps build trust between domestic workers and their employers.

JiPay is now completing beta testing in Singapore and will launch the service there and shortly after in Hong Kong.

Development of additional features is also already underway. In version 2.0, the start-up will launch JiPay Payroll, which will be the first end-to-end payroll system aimed specifically at domestic helpers. This feature will also offer domestic helpers additional financial services such as low-cost remittances and savings to include them in the era of FinTech disruption.
