Three-day Cyberport Career Fair attracts over 1,000 job seekers

⋯⋯⋯⋯

Cyberport’s annual career expo was held online again this year during 4-6 June, with overwhelming response of over 1,000 job seekers and record high of 1,500 I&T job openings from more than 150 companies.

Jobs vacancies are mainly in areas of Smart Living (highest at 35%), FinTech, digital entertainment,

artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, and cybersecurity. Hong Kong’s effort in developing smart city and digital economy has contributed to the gradual increasing demand for RetailTech, EdTech, HealthTech, Environmental Tech, AI and IoT-related talents.

Analytics and marketing positions from the smart living cluster (business analysts, digital marketing and graphic design trainees, etc.) were the most popular among job seekers. This reflects the boosting demand towards marketing and design talents in various fields, resulting from Hong Kong’s commitment to promote the development of smart city as well as digitalisation across industries.

Around 20% of participating job seekers hold doctorate or master’s degrees, close to 70% of them are university graduates and the rest with associate degrees, higher diploma or secondary school graduates.

Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport said, “Cyberport is committed to nurturing and promoting I&T industry to the youth. By hosting the annual Cyberport Career Fair, we aim to provide a matching platform for enterprises and aspiring youth. With the accelerated digital transformation of the society in the post-pandemic era, the demand for I&T talents in various industries has been increasing. I look forward to the fruitful results of the Fair, to bring in new blood for the industry, and provide opportunities for young people who are interested in the I&T sector to seize the golden age of I&T development in Hong Kong.”
