Cyberport and HKU launch “Leading Fintech Ventures” to nurture future leaders

⋯⋯⋯⋯

With FinTech continuing to define the direction, shape, and pace of change in various industry sectors, Cyberport and The University of Hong Kong (HKU) are launching the “HKU-Cyberport Leading FinTech Ventures” programme to develop the next generation of FinTech talent, leaders, and entrepreneurs for Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

The 10-day, 10-module programme, which runs from January to March 2023, is designed for both current and aspiring FinTech practitioners. It will empower FinTech entrepreneurs and technical leaders of FinTech start-ups to raise their game; help mid- to senior-level managers better understand FinTech’s technical side; and enable non-FinTech professionals to learn about trends, ecosystems, and the nuts and bolts of implementing financial innovations.

Students will cover a wide range of subjects, including entrepreneurial finance and innovation strategy, privacy-enhancing technologies, federated learning, regulations, data privacy, competition laws, and much more. Courses will be taught by faculty members from HKU’s Business School, Department of Computer Science, and Faculty of Law.

Moreover, students will take part in Start-up Mixers and Final Pitches co-organised by the Cyberport Academy and the HKU Business School Executive Education. They will experience the journeys of FinTech start-ups and participate in pitching exercises for the opportunity to receive HK$100,000 in seed funding from the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund to realise their FinTech dreams.

Students may apply for a two-thirds fee reimbursement through the government’s Reindustrialisation and Technology Training Programme subsidy. Other discounts are available for early birds, groups, and HKU alumni.
