Making contactless payments with a smartwatch is convenient and easy. But not everyone wants to keep technology at the top and fashion at the bottom. Cyberport FinTech start-up, Tappy Technologies, has developed an NFC chip, a tokenisation platform, and a wallet solution to transform fashion accessories, such as watches, sunglasses, and hats, into payment-enabled wearables.
Tappy’s offering is both simple and powerful. Using the Tappy Pay app, users can tokenise their credit, debit, and prepaid card credentials and then provision those tokens into a Tappy NFC-enabled item. Users can then make secure contactless payments by waving the item over a POS terminal, just like they would with an Apple Watch using Apple Pay. All the transactions can be managed via the Tappy app.
The most remarkable aspect of this solution is that it allows brands and customers to benefit from the convenience and security of contactless payments without compromising their brand identity or fashion pursuits. Tappy’s system is integrated with Visa Token Service, Mastercard Digital Enablement Service, and a number of banking partners and card networks, providing maximum compatibility. Users do not have to worry about safety either, because no sensitive information is stored on the device and thus cannot be stolen, lost, or breached. A simple setting would render it unusable for payment even if they lost the item.
Tappy’s operations adhere to the highest global security standards. The company is a certified global Token Requestor-Token Service Provider.
Tappy’s operations now span North America, Asia-Pacific, and EMEA. Timex and other global brands have incorporated the start-up's innovations into their products.
