Cyberport congratulates Calvin Cheng, Founder and CEO of Wizpresso, a Cyberport start-up, for becoming a laureate in the first "BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize" (STIP).
Wizpresso, admitted into the "Cyberport Incubation Programme" in 2018, developed an integrated verification tool underpinned by artificial intelligence and natural language processing (NLP) technology. The tool helps verify transaction data such as that in initial public offerings (IPOs), and mergers and acquisitions, such that complex reporting and due diligence workflow are simplified, hence improving business process as well as efficiency of legal practitioners and saving much manpower. Calvin won the STIP in the FinTech sector, reflecting the market and industry’s strong recognition on the research and development achievements of the start-up.
Calvin was honoured to be awarded the first STIP, “This recognition encourages us to continue to forge ahead and commercialise our research and development outcomes. The prize is a testament to the innovative elements and commercial value of our team’s solution, which makes non-structured data in the capital market more easily retrievable and more reliable. Established by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, the STIP recognizes individuals and groups who have facilitated the development of science and technology in Hong Kong in five key fields, namely FinTech, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, Advanced Manufacturing, and New Materials and New Energy. Each winner will receive a prize fund of HK$2 million. The judging panel includes scholars, members of international organisations, and management of industry organisations. Winners are selected based on their science and technology innovation achievements, transformation of their technological achievements, as well as social and economic value created.
Wizpresso is an award-winning start-up in the innovation and technology sector. They have won accolades including the Champion of the “Maker in China” SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest 2022 - Hong Kong Chapter, and FinTech Grand Award in “Hong Kong ICT Awards 2021”.
