Cyberport signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) on 9 February in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to encourage technology companies in the two communities to expand to Hong Kong or Dubai through the collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport, and H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Future Foundation, and witnessed by John Lee, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and H.E. Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications of UAE, Deputy Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation.
The Dubai Future Foundation is established with the vision of making Dubai and UAE a hub of innovation and shaping Dubai into a leading city of the future. It builds an innovation ecosystem that includes accelerator programs, incubators, labs, regulatory sandboxes, and knowledge platforms, with the mission of designing a future-ready city.
Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport was thrilled on the joint efforts to leverage each other’s resources to promote the global development I&T. He said, “Through the MoU, with DFF’s support, Cyberport will continue to attract Dubai enterprises to set foot in Hong Kong at Cyberport with all-round backing and connect Dubai stakeholders to Cyberport’s diverse networks to deepen multi-faceted collaborations and holistically enrich the I&T ecosystem.”

The MoU signed by Cyberport and the DFF will leverage on Cyberport’s status as Hong Kong’s digital technology flagship and incubator for entrepreneurship to connect the innovation and technology ecosystem stakeholders from Dubai to Cyberport Enterprise Network (CEN), Cyberport Investor Network (CIN), Cyberport Technology Network (CTN), Cyberport Professional Network (CPN), as well as Cyberport Macro Fund, etc. Cyberport will also provide venue, facilities, operational and marketing support for co-organising seminars or events to create impact and promote Hong Kong and Dubai. DFF will provide knowledge exchange through reports and white papers, connect Cyberport community with entities in Dubai that will support the start-up ecosystem, and provide opportunities for Cyberport community start-ups with viable use-cases on the Metaverse or Web3 applications at DFF’s global Metaverse Assembly event.
