The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Cyberport unicorn Animoca Brands, and INDEX GAME, a Cyberport start-up and agency partner of The Sandbox, have signed an MoU with the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to bring creative education to the metaverse.
By engaging the younger generation in cutting-edge technologies and empowering them not only to consume but also to create in the metaverse, the parties hope the collaboration will broaden students’ global vision, nurture more talent for creative industries, and catalyse ArtTech development. This coincides with the ambitions of the HKSAR Government to boost the cultural and creative industries and foster more creative talent for Hong Kong.
Under the MoU, the parties will cooperate in five major areas. Academically, they will collaborate to develop new content for HKDI’s Higher Diploma in Arts Technology courses. The goal is to provide students with a deeper understanding of the latest industry technologies in theory and practice.
Students will have the opportunity to intern at The Sandbox’s and INDEX GAME’s Hong Kong and overseas offices, as well as participate in collaborative projects, such as developing new games.
The parties will also support students to join international competitions, helping them differentiate themselves and compete with the best in the world. In addition, The Sandbox and INDEX GAME will organise various industry exchanges to strengthen the link between the Web3 industry and the education sector.
