Cyberport recently returned to Hong Kong FinTech Week 2023, leading 16 community start-ups to the main forum to present their innovative solutions in open banking, RegTech, real-world asset tokenisation, green finance, InsurTech, and WealthTech. They highlighted the Cyberport community’s enduring role as a FinTech innovation hub and its unwavering commitment to the year’s theme, “Redefining FinTech”.
During the event, Cyberport’s Chief Public Mission Officer, Eric Chan, and Head of FinTech, Victor Yim, hosted two panel discussions. The first examined strategies to help Hong Kong’s scale-ups expand globally while the second looked into blockchain’s role in ESG and green finance and the impact of ESG data on investment decisions.
As Web3 emerges as the next frontier, Cyberport also announced two collaborative programmes aimed at accelerating the development and adoption of Web3 technologies.
In collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Polygon Labs, Cyberport launched the Web2 to Web3 Enablement Program. This initiative matches enterprises with Web3 start-ups and their solutions to promote broader application of the technology, including product upgrades and business, technical and marketing transformation. Simultaneously, the programme will help start-ups gather use cases and assist enterprises in testing and launching Web3 campaigns and proofs-of-concept within 60 days.
AWS will provide enterprises with cloud resources and recommend suitable Web3 solutions. Polygon Labs will contribute its blockchain technical expertise, and Cyberport will aid in the recruitment and matching of enterprises and start-ups. Additionally, start-ups will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with AWS and Polygon Labs representatives for business development and performance improvement advice.
Meanwhile, Ant Group, a member of the Cyberport Technology Network, unveiled a technical support plan and programme tailored for Cyberport community members.
Through its newly launched brand, ZAN, Ant Group Digital Technologies offered Cyberport’s Web3 start-ups a FinTech Week Special Offer worth HK$2 million. This gives start-ups affordable access to ZAN’s advanced blockchain application development products and services, enabling them to secure and optimise their Web3 applications, platforms and businesses.
Furthermore, OceanBase, a scalable distributed database developed by Ant Group, launched the Cloud Database Migration Lab/Sandbox in partnership with Alibaba Cloud. The programme, available until March 2024, grants Cyberport community members access to dedicated sandbox environments, allowing them to use OceanBase’s advanced features for their Web3 innovations.
