Cyberport has been commissioned by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) to launch the GBA Fintech Two-way Internship Scheme for Post-secondary Students.
The scheme, which is currently accepting applications, aims to provide internship opportunities for post-secondary students studying FinTech-related subjects in Hong Kong and other Greater Bay Area (GBA) cities on the Mainland. The goals are to pique students’ interest in FinTech careers while also enlarging Hong Kong’s FinTech talent pool.
Eligible students can apply for a two-month (extendable to six months) full-time internship at a FinTech enterprise in Hong Kong or on the Mainland. More than 150 internship positions are being offered by over 30 FinTech companies in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai. These companies operate in a variety of domains, including virtual banking, virtual insurance, RegTech, WealthTech, CreditTech, and payment tech.
Interns will receive a monthly subsidy of HK$12,000 (or RMB10,500).
In addition to providing unique opportunities for Hong Kong students to work in the GBA, and for Mainland students to work in Hong Kong, the scheme is designed to help FinTech enterprises attract talent, promote knowledge and technology exchange, cultivate closer relationships, and strengthen the GBA FinTech ecosystem. Ultimately, the scheme organisers aim to help transform the GBA into an international hub for innovation and FinTech.
Applications for winter internships are now being accepted until 30 November. The first batch of interns is expected to start as early as the end of this year. Information regarding summer internship opportunities will be announced in the first half of 2024.
