Cyberport and Home and Youth Affairs Bureau renew Youth Start-up Internship Programme, increasing salary subsidy

⋯⋯⋯⋯

Following two highly successful editions of the Youth Start-up Internship Programme (YSIP), Cyberport and the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau have partnered once again to renew the programme for the third consecutive year.

As in previous editions, Cyberport start-ups will provide 100 three-to-six-month internship positions to local students on a full-time, part-time, or mixed-mode basis. This year, the maximum monthly salary subsidy has been increased from HK$10,500 to HK$11,200 per intern, demonstrating a stronger commitment to talent development.

In addition to learning about the vibrant I&T sector, interns will have the chance to partake in a four-day tour of Greater Bay Area (GBA) cities, including Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, and Dongguan, to visit I&T start-ups, incubation centres, state-level scientific and technological enterprises, and XBot Park, a robotics and smart hardware incubator. They will gain first-hand knowledge of the latest developments in the I&T and aerospace industries in the GBA and experience with a flight simulator.

Ir Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport, noted that, “Cyberport has been supporting the government in expanding the I&T talent pool, promoting economic diversification, and amplifying Hong Kong’s competitiveness. Since 2021, the YSIP has received approximately 10,000 applications, reflecting a steady increase in young people eager to shine in the I&T industry.”

From its launch, YSIP has served as an effective platform for Cyberport start-ups to recruit new employees and expand their talent pool, thereby fuelling dynamic development. This year’s YSIP received more applications – with 185 Cyberport start-ups providing 400 placements. Cyberport will select 100 positions for students to apply, including those in Smart Living, EdTech, HealthTech, smart mobility, smart retail, IoT, FinTech, and Digital Entertainment.

Full-time students aged 18 to 30 from local post-secondary or tertiary institutions may apply through YSIP’s dedicated webpage on iTalent.
