Cyberport Career Fair 2024 opens new avenues for I&T job opportunities

⋯⋯⋯⋯

The annual Cyberport Career Fair, held on 15-16 March, offered fresh opportunities for career advancement in the I&T sector.

With the theme “Redefine the Future of Tech Jobs in the Era of AI”, this year’s Career Fair showcased some 100 physical company booths and brought together 200 Cyberport community start-ups, government departments, public organisations, and businesses of varying sizes. Over 1,700 job openings were available in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing, Web3, Blockchain, STEM education, spanning sectors such as FinTech, Smart Living and Smart City, Digital Entertainment, AI and Web3.   In addition, internship opportunities were also available for graduates lacking experience in I&T but keen to embark on a career in I&T.

Jobseekers could explore opportunities not only within the dynamic start-ups and tech companies of the Cyberport community but also within government departments like the Hong Kong Police Force, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), the Labour Department, and the Qualifications Framework. Additionally, Cyberport’s partners, including Deloitte, Hang Seng Bank, Cathay Pacific, Dah Chong Hong, and Gammon Construction, will present a diverse range of roles, broadening prospects for young talent across various sectors.

The 2024 fair debuted an AI-empowered one-stop recruitment service on the iTalent platform to enhance job seeking and recruitment efficiency. This service helps candidates with resume preparation, job-matching support, interview performance analysis (provided by community start-up Datality Lab), as well as direct engagement with employers.  To keep pace with the trend of “competing for talent,” Cyberport has stepped out of the community by setting up dedicated web pages on recruitment websites “TechJobAsia” and “eFinancialCareers”, so as to expand the recruitment network for young talent and injects vitality into the I&T ecosystem.

Beyond job hunting, there were over 100 career forums, recruitment talks, resume consultations, and CV Clinics (provided by community start-up TechJobAsia) for attendees to stay abreast of the latest I&T industry developments. A professional photo service was also offered for job seekers to present a polished image to potential employers.

Additionally, representatives from the Education Bureau’s Qualifications Framework offered insights on continuing education and career planning in the I&T sector, while employers will share recruitment strategies and practical career advice, including opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.

Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport, remarked in his speech, “The Career Fair, as the annual flagship event of the Cyberport Academy, marks its 10th anniversary this year. Over the past decade, the Career Fair has brought together more than 900 enterprises and has offered over 8,400 job opportunities for 19,000 job seekers, continuously infusing fresh energy into the I&T industry. In the era of the digital economy, traditional industries are presented with new opportunities for transformation and upgrading. Companies and organisations across various sectors are embracing digitalisation and intelligence, contributing to the digital economy transformation in Hong Kong.”
