Cyberport incubatee Aegis Custody hosts Hong Kong’s first large-scale digital assets custody demonstration conference

⋯⋯⋯⋯

Cyberport incubatee Aegis Custody is a provider of custody technology solutions and is the only regulated digital asset custodian licensed in both the United States and Hong Kong. The start-up recently hosted the Digital Assets Custody Demonstration Conference at Cyberport.

The event brought together 11 Hong Kong-based banks to explore advanced custodial solutions, technologies, and best practices essential for the secure management of digital assets while complying with regulatory requirements. The conference also showcased the broad potential of custody technologies by demonstrating an integrated digital asset tokenisation solution for cryptocurrencies, tokenised securities, stablecoins, and Wholesale Central Bank Digital Currency (wCBDC).

In her welcome remarks, Georgina Chu, Chief Corporate Development Officer of Cyberport, expressed Cyberport’s enthusiasm for supporting the conference to enrich the digital asset ecosystem and foster industry collaboration: “As Hong Kong’s largest FinTech and Web3.0 community, Cyberport is committed to facilitating the financial sector’s transition to the Web3.0 era. We will continue to promote the development of digital assets and tokenisation through initiatives such as the Web3 PoC Scheme and the wCBDC sandbox, thus fostering high-quality growth in Hong Kong’s digital economy.”

In conjunction with the conference, Aegis has formed a banking consortium with FORMS HK and several banks that aims to provide members with the systems and expertise they need to conduct digital asset activities, such as converting real-world and financial assets into digital tokens. It also provides a platform for participating banks to issue tokenised securities and explore practical use cases, facilitating their entry into the digital asset space.

Aegis is also developing a blockchain-based Digital Assets Solutions Hub (DASH) that will provide independent trust and custody solutions to virtual asset service providers, exchanges, financial institutions, and professional investors, thereby enhancing investor protection for digital assets.
