DELF 2024: a resounding success with 3,500+ attendees, unleashing incredible insights & interactive tech experience

The Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum (DELF) 2024 captivated audiences with three days of insightful discussions and a dynamic digital entertainment carnival. Attracting over 3,500 participants in person and online, garnering over 280,000 online views, the event explored the theme “Imaginary Fairground: AI-Powered Entertainment in the Web 3.0 Era.”

 

Throughout the event, inspiring keynotes from over 60 industry leaders shared transformative insights on AI and Web 3.0 innovations. Engaging panel discussions delved into the potential of these technologies to revolutionise entertainment.

 

The ceremony was officiated by guests of honour including Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government; Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry; Zhang Guolai, Second-class Inspector of Youth Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Simon Chan, Chairman of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited; and Dr Rocky Cheng, CEO of Cyberport.

During the ceremony, Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong highlighted the popularity and diversity of participants at DELF 2024, underscoring Hong Kong's status as a digital entertainment hub. Post-pandemic, the global entertainment and media industry is steadily growing, with AI and Web3.0 transforming gaming, television, movies, arts, and sports. The HKSAR Government actively supports this development, including Cyberport's efforts to build a vibrant Web3 ecosystem.

Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport said that Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum 2024 not only showcases cutting-edge technologies and innovative applications of AI and Web 3.0 but also leads the industry in in-depth discussions and explorations of the boundless potential of these technologies in digital entertainment and smart living.

Harnessing AI and Web 3.0 for Future Entertainment

 

The DELF 2024 experience zones featured four themes: Smart Lifestyle, Robotics, Sports & Gaming, and Culture & Arts. These zones offered a variety of unique and innovative exhibits. Highlights include “AI Robot Painting Chinese Ink Art Piece A.I. GEMINI,” which blends AI technologies with cultural value; the Roborn Robot Barista, where coffee culture meets robotics and AI technologies; and advanced humanoid robots powered by UBTech, incorporating six cutting-edge AI technologies. The zones also showcased student projects from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s “Master of Science in Metaverse Technology” program, featuring virtual tourism, exhibitions, and the use of VR and AR in education and conservation.

DELF 2024 brought together a distinguished panel of over 60 leaders, experts, and professionals from globally and locally renowned technology companies, including Microsoft, Cisco, Alibaba, Meta, Xiaohongshu, Baidu, NVIDIA, and teamLab. This forum highlighted transformative breakthroughs in AI, showcasing its practical applications in entertainment and smart living.

 

Key discussions focused on AI-powered digital content creation, revealing how cutting-edge technologies are reshaping the creative process. The forum also explored the innovative potential of high-performance computing, emphasising its impact on the entertainment industry. Participants gained insights into how AI and advanced computing are driving new opportunities and efficiencies, paving the way for future advancements in digital experiences.

What’s more, DELF’s Play-to-Earn platform rewarded visitors who completed tasks within the experience zones with Eat-Play-Win experiences at Cyberport. The 'Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum 2024' highlighted the dynamic influence of AI and Web 3.0. Key events included the Elderly eSport Tournament & Experience Day, Arena of Faith Competitive Gaming Tournament & GDC Web3.0, and the AI Everywhere Robotics Esports Invitational 2024. Additionally, the NEXX Digital Entertainment Leader Awards and Hong Kong Game Development Association Competition showcased cutting-edge developments. These innovations underscore AI and Web 3.0's role in revolutionizing digital entertainment and strengthening Hong Kong's digital economy, with Cyberport leading the charge in cultivating tech advancements.
