Advances in AI have created exciting new frontiers for spoken language learning, particularly for young students. Lango Innovation Limited, a Cyberport incubatee and Cyberport Creative Micro Fund alumnus, is dedicated to making primary school English learning more accessible, effective, and fun. The start-up’s EdTech solution now reaches over 10,000 students across 80+ pilot schools, with more than 100,000 app downloads. Lango is also demonstrating the universal appeal and applicability of Hong Kong’s innovations as it rapidly expands into the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and other regions where AI-powered language learning solutions are in high demand.
Lango’s success stems from the understanding that modern young learners thrive in interactive environments where they can learn at their own pace, build confidence, and improve their language skills. The platform features immersive role-play exercises where students converse with AI robots in gamified scenarios. The system provides immediate feedback after each session and highlights frequently mispronounced words for targeted practice. Teachers also benefit from comprehensive progress tracking tools that enable personalised intervention and support for each student.
The start-up’s international expansion is gaining momentum, with a new presence in Dubai and potential distribution partnerships in the Middle East. During Dubai AI Week, Lango attracted significant attention not only for its English learning platform but also for potential Arabic language applications. Its participation in Cyberport’s delegation to Southeast Asia yielded a valuable partnership with PT Indo Prima Perkasa in Indonesia, where they are now implementing Lango’s solution to enhance English education.
