年報 2013/14

I am delighted to present our annual report for the financial year
2013/14, our third since we began sharing the strategies, initiatives,
and achievements, various progresses of Hong Kong Cyberport
Management Company Limited (Cyberport) in 2011.
The period under review was one of exceptional achievements in
all areas of our business, as we continued to expand our growing
network in Hong Kong, across the region and in overseas markets.
With a vision to establish Cyberport as a leading information and
communications technology (ICT) hub in the Asia-Pacific region, we
have reached out to a wider audience via various incubation
programmes to the incubatees and start-ups, events that aim to
build awareness and interests of ICT in the community as well as
professional conferences that further strengthen the ICT
competency of the community and the ecosystem as a whole.
Extension of our Three-Year Strategic Plan
Driven by our strong commitment to nurture new ICT talent, we
launched in late 2010 a three-year strategic plan with an initial
investment of HK$100 million. Since then, we have been witnessing
a number of positive returns from this investment including an
increase of close to 600% and over 180% in the applications of our
“Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF)” and “Cyberport
Incubation Programme” respectively.
The number of events we organised in Cyberport also continued to
grow during the year. In total, we were involved in staging 260
events that attracted over 58,000 participants from all over the
world. Through the 100 partnerships we have established in the
Mainland, across Asia, the US and Europe, we continued to see
encouraging results in terms of internship placements, business
and pitching opportunities for our students and start-ups.
I was particularly delighted to see our efforts directed at young
people — who are the future of our industry — begin to pay off. As
a result of the initiatives we have taken, many young people have
had the opportunity to learn about ICT for the first time in their
lives. Their rapidly-growing interest in ICT is reflected in the rising
popularity of our 50 youth-targeted events, which attracted over
20,000 young participants. We have also been successful in raising
the awareness and interest of the general public about the ICT
industry.
