Cyberport Internship Programme

What is Cyberport Internship Programme?


We offer students to gain valuable experience and training during the summer/spring vacation or for a longer period (e.g. 12 months) as part of their curriculum requirement.  Each selected candidate will be assigned a specific project and a mentor.  Each project will have well defined deliverables, providing students with practical experience and learning objectives.


To join us, you need to have:

  • A valid permit to work in Hong Kong SAR
  • A bachelor or advanced degree studentship continuing a full-time university degree course after the internship
  • Good academic results with a GPA of 3.0 or above, or equivalent
  • University endorsement that the internship programme is a part of the curriculum
  • Good communication skills
  • A good team player
  • Available full-time during the internship period

System Engineer (Cloud Computing) Ref# SE-ITO0523W

This position will be under our Network Operation Team: 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment to provide support on cloud computing infrastructure installation and cloud management solution; handle users’ applications in the cloud platform
  • Maintain, support and operate mission-critical cloud computing platform for clients
  • Assist the team lead to conduct enhancement on cloud platform from time to time
  • Provide support to Cyberport Technology Center IT operations through appropriate maintenance for all servers and network equipment as well as peripherals
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers and service personnel with respect to warranties and servicing

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor degree or above in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science  or other technical qualifications
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in providing technical support and network engineering
  • First-hand experience on server operating systems including Linux and Windows
  • Technical background in managing enterprise storage systems and networking devices (preferably including software defined networking)
  • Prior experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Xen, KVM; preferable worked with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or OpenStack cloud based platforms
  • Good knowledge of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
  • Good knowledge of network (LAN, WAN and Wireless), Linux operation, Windows. Smart-Space Community Manager (Ref#SSCM0509W)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Smart-Space to ensure a world-class collaborative community;
  • Initiate and develop quality tenant services and programmes;
  • Develop and maintain good tenant relations;
  • Liaise with other Centres within Cyberport (e.g. Entrepreneurship Centre, Collaboration Centre, and Knowledge Centre) as well as external parties to leverage and promote programme awareness and participation;
  • Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes, and make recommendations for new programmes or improvement to existing ones;
  • Oversee and co-ordinate leasing activities, including license administration, to ensure Smart-Space is occupied with companies from Cyberport’s target groups;
  • Oversee and co-ordinate tenant enquiries;
  • Oversee and manage the concierge staff of Smart-Space(s) to ensure quality and consistent services are delivered in a timely manner on time;
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of Smart-Space to ensure a high-quality environment is maintained;

Requirements:

This position will be under our Collaboration Centre:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to Manager of Collaboration Centre of the IT Operations
  • Assist Centre Manager to develop strategic partnerships with leading local and overseas ICT enterprises / associations to help ICT SME companies explore and capture business opportunities in overseas and Mainland markets;
  • Drive local ICT Industry to collaborate with overseas and Mainland China counterparts and to promote Hong Kong as a leading digital city in the region;
  • Steer marketing plans / campaigns to build up successful stories on Cyberport’s public missions to share with public and interested parties.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related discipline;
  • Minimum 5 years’ solid experience in managing partner/alumni programs and/or marketing projects, publicity campaigns and events;
  • Experience in ICT or related sector with a good network of contacts, and with China experience is preferable;

Assistant Manager – Business Development (Ref# AMEC0509W)

This position will be under our Entrepreneurship Centre team:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to Senior Manager of Entrepreneurship Centre of the IT Operations;
  • Assist Senior Manager in closely monitoring the project progress of the Awardees of the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) Scheme and Incubatees of Incubation Programme to build up cases of success;
  • Assist Senior Manager in key business development work including seeking more local and overseas partnerships, public and private funding resources and qualified mentors for the Incubatee and CCMF Scheme Awardees, that finally driving the Entrepreneurship Centre to success;
  • Prepare and steer marketing plans / campaigns to promote Cyberport’s one-stop platform for start-ups and build up successful stories on Cyberport’s public missions to share with public and interested parties;
  • To acquire and develop knowledge and connections in PR, media promotion, legal support and capital fund raising for helping the Incubatee and CCMF Scheme Awardees.;
  • Able to take originate required action to deal with external parties independently, including the problem cases.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Corporate communications team in rolling-out the Company’s publicity campaigns, multi-platform communications and public relations programmes;

  • Perform financial and accounting functions for various functional units of the Company as assigned;
  • Responsible for month-end closing and preparing monthly financial statements and reports;

  • The Digital Marketing Intelligence project will be one of the major initiatives under Cyberport Knowledge Centre to enhance the image as well as overall productivity of the company.  Through the Knowledge Centre, Cyberport invests in resources and programmes that further the goal of transforming Hong Kong into an inclusive knowledge-based digital economy.  Cyberport aims to develop ICT talents at different stages of their lives by transmitting the knowledge and skills they need to grow and flourish.

  • The Intern student will helps to build an event management database to provide robust analytics and better customer services. 

  • Besides, the intern student will also assist in implementing a business contact management system that facilitates the company to maintain high compliant standard of data protection as well as to provide more quality customer services.

  • Moreover, the student may also assist in a corporate website revamp project in order to enhance the interface for the internal users to reach the online visitors.  Company’s image will be improved as a whole  

  • The intern student will be given the opportunities help to assist in the event logistics and other assigned duties during the internship.

Project Deliverables :

  • A-tailor-made database built for the company to use internally for recording and analysing event data

  • Coordination with internal users and external vendors throughout different stages of the website revamp project

  • Ensure for the data correctness of the business contact management system and assist the team members to oversee the project progress

Skills Requirement:

Cyberport Internship: Entrepreneurship Centre (Ref:CIP15/EC/SD)

The Entrepreneurship Centre was first established in 2005 under the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) to support the development of start-up companies/SMEs in digital entertainment and creative lifestyle industries. Riding on its success, Cyberport has decided to support the Incubation Programme with its own funding starting from February 2012.  The new Incubation Programme aims to support the development of the Hong Kong ICT industry.  The programme provides incubatees with access to rent-free office space, advanced ICT facilities and resources, support in business development, financing and hiring of graduate interns, as well as entrepreneurship and technology training for a period of up to two years.

 The Entrepreneurship Centre also runs the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) Scheme.  CCMF seeks to spark creativity and innovation in ICT industries by providing seed funding of HK$100,000 for concept and prototype development in a 6-month project period.

  • The Entrepreneurship programmes, Incubation Programme and Cyberport Creative Micro Fund (CCMF) , nurture and strengthen Information and Communications Technology (ICT) entrepreneurs and start-ups by offering financial assistance, support and professional services of all kinds in different stages of enterprise development.  The intern student will help on recruitment activites due to the increased number of intake and admission from Incubation Programme and CCMF.
  • The intern student will help develop, edit and dispatch bi-monthly eNewsletter, which provides regular info update and communication with incubatees and grantees.
  • Also, the intern student will help event logistics and online promotion for Cyberport entrepreneurship events, e.g. Entrepreneur Day in May, Global Entrepreneurship Week in November, boot camps and seminars.

Project Deliverables :

  • To collect, verify and analyses company data via telephone/ email survey activities (with applicants, incubatees and grantees)
  • To work closely with inter-departments to provide assistance in preparing and handlimg legal documents
  • To develop, edit and dispatch promotion material including bi-monthly eNewsletter, websites, social media post to digital channels
  • To assist in event logistics arrangement and support for the teams

Skills Requirement:

  • Excellent command of written (in both English and Chinese) and interpersonal / communication skills

Cyberport Internship: Technology Centre (Ref: CIP/15/TC/SD)

The Cyberport Technology Centre is dedicated to bringing cutting-edge industry tools and knowledge to Hong Kong in order to develop a diversified technology-oriented local industry with a global outlook and network.  Since its inception in 2003, the Technology Centre (formerly the Digital Media Centre) has supported local businesses through the investment of high-end production equipment, as well as the production of videos, films, animations and game content for online platforms.

With the rapid development of ICT, the Centre will further enhance its role in the adoption of state-of-the-art technology in the streams of digital entertainment, social media, cloud computing and mobility solution to better help Hong Kong ICT start-ups capture growing opportunities in these four areas.

Project Description:

  • Collaboration Centre aims to facilitate partnerships and alliances between Hong Kong's ICT SMEs and global enterprises to achieve mutual success.  It provides business support to ICT SMEs in Hong Kong to enable them to tap into the overseas and mainland China markets.  The intern student will help to assist the event logistic and support the team members for the ICT Conference and Exhibitions.

  • Assist in planning and implementation of various events of the centre which may include the ICT Delegations to overseas, Cloud Conference in Guangdong, Battle Silicon, IT Fest etc.

  • Support the marketing and promotion activities, and on-site event management aimed to promote the exchange of technology and talent between Hong Kong and worldwide ICT enterprises to fuel the growth of the ICT industry in Hong Kong.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Coordination with internal departments and event agencies to increase communication and people management skills
