Cyberport partners with HKUST to nurture ICT talent |
Cyberport has stepped up its commitment of nurturing the next generation of ICT
talent by partnering with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
to offer students an opportunity to work with the industry and public
organisations while also helping to further develop emerging technologies for
mobile media, and social & networking media.
Cyberport will collaborate with HKUST's newly established Social Media Lab in
building a video mobile social network. The network provides an electronic
platform for showcasing video programmes produced by HKUST students with latest
digital media technologies. Cyberport will offer technical support and
demonstration platform for the whole programme.
"With the significant growth of prominence and adoption of social media channels
in Asia, growing along with the surge of mobile devices among consumers, there
are huge opportunities for businesses to explore the possibilities by making use
of social media channels." Herman Lam, CEO of Cyberport, said at the
launching ceremony on 15 February 2012.
Cyberport will offer technical support and demonstration platform that connects
the students with local SMEs through its Technology Centre. Students are
also encouraged to join training courses, workshops, seminars and forums
organized by Cyberport to keep up with the latest I.T. trend and technologies,
in order to explore business opportunities.
"We are very excited about this partnership given that its mission of nurturing
next generation talent for the ICT industry strikes at the heart of what we do,"
he added.
