Construction

Hong Kong’s construction sector is undergoing a significant digital transformation as the city pursues its smart city vision and sustainable development goals. The government’s Smart City Blueprint and Construction 2.0 initiatives emphasise innovation, automation, and digitalisation to enhance productivity, safety, and environmental performance, while also addressing challenges such as labour shortages and rising costs. The goals set forth will modernise the industry, leading to the creation of smarter, more sustainable buildings for our city.
ConTech, powered by smart technologies such as AI, Blockchain, Data Science, and Cybersecurity, offers transformative solutions that augment human capabilities. AI and advanced analytics enable efficient project planning, automated safety monitoring, and robotic process automation for tasks like site surveying, bricklaying, and concrete pouring. Blockchain technology enhances supply chain transparency and streamlines contract management, clarifying accountability for construction projects. Data Science and IoT facilitate real-time progress tracking, resource optimisation, and environmental monitoring. Digital solutions such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital twins promote integrated project management. Robust Cybersecurity Underpins all these technologies, protecting sensitive project data and ensuring data integrity and operational resilience of smart building systems.
Cyberport is committed to nurturing ConTech start-ups to accelerate industry transformation. Through incubation support, solution matching, and industry partnerships, we help innovative solutions move from concept to real-world implementation. We also focus on educating industry practitioners about I&T applications, bridging the gap between traditional practices and emerging technologies. These efforts aim to create a more efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced built environment for Hong Kong.

Drive Widespread Adoption of Digital technology in the Construction Industry
Cyberport signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Construction Industry Council (CIC) to drive digital transformation in the industry. Many Cyberport start-ups specialise in developing smart building, environmental, social and governance (ESG) and building information management (BIM) technologies. This collaboration connects the traditional construction industry with the innovative and technology sector, fostering the exploration of solutions to optimise site environment and efficiency, and enhance industry productivity, quality, safety, health and sustainability.
In addition, the two parties also collaborate on seminars and technology forums to establish networks between the Cyberport start-up community and the construction industry. This collaboration also enhances mutual awareness and facilitates the integration of new economic enterprises with traditional industry players. Cyberport also assists the CIC in guiding eligible Cyberport start-ups with funding support for innovation development.
