Green Environment
Hong Kong's environmental industry is undergoing a sustainable revolution fuelled by AI, blockchain, cybersecurity and data science — key technology clusters promoted by Cyberport. These innovations are enabling smarter resource management, greener operations and greater resilience to environmental challenges.
Transforming Hong Kong’s Environmental Industry with Cutting-Edge Technology
AI optimises environmental monitoring and conservation efforts, from air quality prediction to waste management. Machine learning models analyse sensor data in real time to detect sources of pollution, while AI-driven robotics improves recycling efficiency. Blockchain provides transparency in carbon credit trading, supply chain sustainability and renewable energy transactions, and enables tamper-proof tracking of green initiatives.
With digital threats on the rise, cybersecurity is critical to protecting smart environmental infrastructure such as IoT-enabled energy grids and water treatment systems from cyberattacks. Secure data structures ensure compliance with environmental regulations while protecting sensitive ecological data. Meanwhile, data science enables actionable insights by processing large datasets on climate patterns, energy consumption and biodiversity trends. Predictive analyses enable policy makers and businesses to make data-driven decisions for a low-carbon future.
Cyberport unites tech innovators and green pioneers to accelerate Hong Kong’s transition to sustainability. By integrating AI, blockchain, cybersecurity and data science, we are not only advancing the green industry — we are building a cleaner, smarter and more liveable city for generations to come.
Accelerating Sustainability

Start-ups at Cyberport are continually developing practical solutions for green living, sustainability, and the circular economy and showcasing these innovations through high-profile events, including the GreenTech and Sustainability Venture Day at the Cyberport Venture Capital Forum, Hong Kong Green FinTech Summit, ZERO 2 LIVE LOCAL 2024. Cyberport has also adopted their solutions in Cyberport campus including Cyberport 5 expansion.
Success Story
Cyberport Incubatee Fotis Lab Develops Microalgae Carbon Reduction Device Achieving Efficient Indoor Air Purification and Carbon Reduction
Cyberport incubatee Fotis Lab has developed a microalgae purification and carbon reduction device called Algeo by using microalgae for indoor air purification and carbon reduction. Founder Mag Chan stated that within two weeks, the microalgae can absorb as much carbon dioxide as trees would in 20 years. A 50-liter microalgae wall can cover an area of 3,000 square feet, and the used microalgae can also be repurposed as fertilisers or for educational purposes. The company is currently exploring the use of microalgae to create eco-friendly tableware and for street beautification, such as the "Liquid Tree" resting bench, offering innovative green solutions to environmental issues.
