Stereoscopic 3D competition broadens its reach to Shanghai |
This year's Stereoscopic 3D competition is
extending its reach to as far as Shanghai following its phenomenal success in
Hong Kong.
In partnering with Shanghai's Knowledge and Innovation Community, Cyberport has
organized the 2012 Shanghai-Hong Kong Stereoscopic 3D Video Competition to
attract young talent from both Shanghai and Hong Kong as part of an effort to
encourage the production of high quality s3D content.
The kick off ceremony for the competition was held at the Knowledge & Innovation
Community (KIC) on 24 August with officiating guests and speakers to include
Henry Chung, a renowned stereoscopic 3D cinematographer and Jacky Chu of
T-films. Both will share their expertise on s3D technology and content
production.
In September, two days of training will also take place in Shanghai to help
participants learn more about the use of 3D animation software namely Autodesk
Maya and 3D Studio Max, to heighten their readiness for the competition.
Participants can submit work in one of three formats: native 3D live action,
stereoscopic 3D animation or non s3D animation.
The judges will assess work based on content and creative concepts, art and
design and technique. The winners will be offered sponsorship to participating
in overseas competitions, international digital entertainment expos and film
festivals to exchange technology know-how.
This is an ideal opportunity for those hoping to leverage on the s3D technology,
and looking to integrate its content into a diverse range of existing platforms.
