Cyberport launches barrier-free new website |
Cyberport has recently launched a barrier free
website that strives to meet the needs of all in the community by being visually
appealing, socially inclusive and offers users better accessibility and greater
convenience.
The new website, conforming to the international W3C WCAG2.0 Level AA standard,
enables everyone including even those with disabilities to easily access
essential information. What's more, the universal layout design is compatible
with screen readers and other screen magnifying software. Also accessible by
popular web browsers and operating systems, the site offers sufficient colour
contrast for low vision users, enlargeable text size, and uses alternate text
and textual description of pictures and graphics.
Access Testing HK Ltd, a Cyberport smart-space user, carried out continuous
assessments on the website, and provided guidance on technical development to
ensure the site meets the highest standards required by the W3C-AA.
"We are extremely pleased to be working with Cyberport on this endeavour. In
this age of ICT adoption, it is so important to ensure information is delivered
in a user-friendly, efficient and effective manner," said James Walmsley,
Regional Manager Asia of Access Testing HK Limited.
The integrated website has been redesigned to feature timely and comprehensive
information on Cyberport and the ICT industry. The gamut of information includes
its ICT developments, exhibitions, seminars and events, office leasing services
and happenings at The Arcade and Le Meridien hotel. It also has a user-friendly
mobile version allowing users to check on updates anywhere and at anytime on smartphones.
Designed for a wide range of users from entrepreneurs to SMEs, ICT professionals
to students, visitors can search for events and multimedia materials including
post event photos and videos, and download files of respective events.
"We are excited with the launch of our new website. We strive to be a
responsible contributor to society and we are committed to taking an active role
in promoting positive social enhancement. Working closely with our tenant,
Access Testing, our corporate website accessibility has been improved
throughout, and we now offer a comprehensive directory enabling users to easily
search for our office and retail tenants, smart-space users and ICT
associations," said Mark Clift, COO of Cyberport.
