Supported by Cyberport and hosted by Nicholas CHAN Hiu-fung BBS, MH, JP, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China and Cyberport board member, the HOY TV programme “AI for Humans” (Total: 17 episodes)  spotlights invaluable insights from over 70 heavyweight guests from diverse sectors, including the HKSAR government officials, Cyberport management members, Cyberport unicorns, Cyberport-incubated entrepreneurs and community members, industry leaders, academic researchers, and investors.

Among these, 26 Cyberport AI pioneers will showcase how AI enhances efficiency, creates business value, and drives innovation, guiding the audience through AI applications and development in healthcare, banking and finance, digital entertainment, culture and tourism, property management, construction, transportation, logistics, and beyond.

Guests from the Government and the industry, academia, research and investment sectors shared Hong Kong's unique advantages in building an AI ecosystem, and how the collaborative innovation among stakeholders can accelerate the development of AI and the new productivity. In this AI era, how can we capitalize on emerging opportunities?

Episode 2: AI Breakthrough in Hong Kong: From Trends to Practical Uses

This episode showcased the multi-dimensional achievements and future blueprint of AI development in Hong Kong. It covered the topics from policy and funding support to proactively building a digital government, from computing infrastructure to large language models and diverse application scenarios. This fully reflects how Hong Kong is actively promoting smart cities in the wave of AI, creating opportunities for all and accelerating industrial development.

Episode 3: AI+ High-Quality Development of the Financial Sector

While the potential and opportunities of GenAI are immerse, Joseph Chan Ho-lim, JP. Under Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury and Dr Rocky Cheng, JP, CEO of Cyberport agreed on a dual-track approach to embrace AI and address associated risks. The GenA.I. sandbox program co-launched by Cyberport and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, is a successful example of promoting the safe and responsible application of Gen AI in the banking sector, facilitating the digital transformation of the financial industry.

To gain pioneering insights from the founders of the Cyberport AI community (AIPioneers) — how AIFT employs AI to combat AI with their Red and Blue teams for cybersecurity, and how Aereve collaborates with Citibank (Hong Kong) to tackle financial crime and strengthen risk management with AI.

Episode 4: AI in Action: Multidimensional Digital Transformation in the Financial Industry

Mr Duncan Chiu, Legislative Council Member (Technology and Innovation Constituency) believes Hong Kong’s rich financial data and numerous financial products provide fertile ground for training AI tools in the financial sector.

• MediConCen automates insurance claims with AI, securing funding by HSBC Asset Management;
• FundingReach ’s AI solutions efficiently enhance customer due diligence for banks, insurers, asset managers, securities firms, and others.

Episode 5: AI in Action: Showcasing Hong Kong's Unique Tourism Charm

In this episode, Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, hopes to leverage AI technology and innovation to enhance the cultural tourism experience in Hong Kong, realizing “tourism is everywhere".

A number of AI-powered travel experiences are also showcased by Cyberport AI Pioneers :  

• Klook utilizes big data to analyze customer interests and travel hotspots, with AI providing personalized services throughout the entire journey, from itinerary planning, customer service to more.
• MateZ Lab collaborates with Ocean Park for an interactive exhibition, using AI to vividly showcase Hong Kong's unique panda IP, effectively achieving cultural preservation and education.
• 5G nuMultimedia employs 5G-enabled 360-degree drones combined with AI technology for panoramic live broadcasts of major events in Hong Kong such as Hong Kong Sevens, showcasing the city's vibrancy to the world.
• OWOWWW Creative partners with local students and artists for drone performances, demonstrating the potential of the low-altitude economy.

Episode 6: AI in Action: Driving Smart Logistics and Low-altitude Economy

In this episode, Mable Chan, Secretary for Transport and Logistics, believes that the low-altitude economy and AI applications can create significant business opportunities for Hong Kong, providing more employment prospects for young people. Mr Dominic Chow, Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation Department hopes LAE Regulatory Sandbox will effectively balance regulatory oversight and economic growth, bringing new opportunities to Hong Kong.

Ms Elizabeth Quat, SBS, BBS, JP, Founding President of the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance and LegCo Member affirmed that the comprehensive innovation and technology ecosystem at Cyberport helps advance the low-altitude economy.

Howard Cheng, Chief Operating Officer of Cyberport, pointed out that Cyberport not only supports the pilot tests of LAE projects with the well-equipped infrastructure but also promotes industry development through exhibitions and workshops. As a pilot company in the "LAE Regulatory Sandbox, SF Phoenix Wings noted that Cyberport's 10x10 meter flight area and its coastal location are ideal for conducting operational tests for extreme weather conditions.

Cyberport AI Pioneer, Jumppoint has also benefited from Cyberport's thriving I&T ecosystem. By leveraging AI technology to empower SMEs in reducing logistics costs, Cyberport helped Jumppoint connected with the F&B community and overseas opportunities, successfully taking over the majority of home delivery services for supermarkets in Hong Kong.

Episode 8: AIGC Reshaping Creative Industries

In this episode, Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that we must think creatively to promote our traditional culture! Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong Baptist University, pointed out that students should embrace new AI technologies early on, and hence regardless of their major, they should at least take one AI course. From the dual drive of promoting the AI industry and nurturing talent at Cyberport to the advancements in R&D and reforms in local universities, this episode offers valuable insights for the audience to enhance their AI skills and transition their careers:

Alice So, Head of Entrepreneurship of Cyberport, emphasized that SMEs should fully harness the power of AI, particularly in data analysis and sales forecast, to turn innovation into a competitive advantage.

Episode 11: AI Leading Educational Transformation

In this episode, the host engages in an in-depth discussion with scholars and EdTech startups about the revolutionary impact of AI. AI not only enhances teaching efficiency and quality but also significantly supports students in their self-directed and personalized learning journeys.

Professor Guo Yike, Provost of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Director of HKGAI pointed out that while AI tools like large language models can quickly summarize information, students must critically evaluate it to truly master knowledge.

• Bridge AI:  Developed an AI system that utilizes video and audio analysis, IoT devices, and AI smartwatch for personalized learning for students with special educational needs (SEN).
• Molekiu: Offers AI-powered STEAM courses with the conversational robot "Ohbot" to engage students and foster technological skills and creativity in future AI talent.
• Xonlabs:  A team of university students self-taught in programming developed an AI learning platform to support self-directed learning, with an AI companion providing personalized study plans to achieve effective "active recall" learning outcomes.
