Cyberport 5 - Future I&T Landmark

Cyberport is expanding its Pokfulam campus to meet the needs of start-ups and Hong Kong’s I&T development. With workspace occupancy at high levels, current facilities struggle to accommodate the increasing number of start-ups and facilitate high-value I&T activities to drive Hong Kong’s digital economy forward.
To bolster Cyberport’s capacity, the Financial Secretary allocated HK$5.5 billion in the 2019-20 Budget for the Cyberport Expansion Project. The addition of Cyberport 5 and an enhanced Waterfront Park, along with the AI Supercomputing Centre and next-generation digital tech infrastructure, will attract more quality technology companies and start-ups, enriching the neighbouring community and providing talent with pathways into I&T careers.
A commissioned consultancy report showed that the expansion’s annual economic contribution could reach HK$3.2 billion (including direct, indirect, and induced impacts), creating 6,100 jobs. The construction phase alone will add HK$1.1 billion to the economy and provide approximately 1,100 jobs.
Cyberport 5, the Waterfront Park, and the Cyberport Pier have been designated to support the growth of Hong Kong’s low-altitude economy (LAE). These areas will serve as operational hubs for drones and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, featuring robust wireless network coverage and essential infrastructure such as charging stations, safety fences, anemometers, and wind vanes.
Low-Altitude Economy Takes Flight
The facilities will provide start-ups with a testing ground for a wide range of LAE applications, including logistics, property maintenance, aerial photography, and search-and-rescue operations. The insights gained will help shape policy development and drive the advancement of Hong Kong’s LAE ecosystem, aligning with the government’s regulatory sandbox initiatives and infrastructure expansion plans.
