Latest Initiatives Propelling FinTech Forward
Cyberport is continually leading strategic initiatives to propel FinTech forward. These include government-commissioned programmes and collaboration with regulators and industry players, all aimed at empowering start-ups to innovate at the forefront of FinTech and strengthening Hong Kong’s FinTech ecosystem. We believe in the future of FinTech, and our goal is placing Hong Kong at the pedestal of the global ecosystem.
Some of our latest initiatives include:
Green FinTech and Green Finance

- Catalysing co-creation between incumbents and start-ups
Commissioned by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB), our Green and Sustainable FinTech Proof-of-Concept Funding Support Scheme offers up to HK$150,000 per project to drive Green FinTech R&D and adoption. Its predecessor, the Fintech Proof-of-Concept Subsidy Scheme, has provided HK$10M in grants to 93 projects, with over 70% from Cyberport FinTech companies.
- Showcasing Hong Kong’s green innovation landscape
During Hong Kong Green Week 2024, Cyberport launched the Prototype Hong Kong Green FinTech Map, featuring over 50 enterprises, including more than 20 from our community. This directory connects corporations with sustainable FinTech solutions, amplifying start-up visibility.
- Driving industry dialogue and advancement

Cyberport co-hosted the first Hong Kong Green FinTech Summit with Finoverse and the World Green Organisation, gathering financial experts to explore emerging technologies including AI and Web3 in Green FinTech.
Driving FinTech Innovation and Application
- Creating spaces for technological experimentation

In partnership with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Cyberport launched the FinTech Supervisory Sandbox 3.1 Pilot and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenA.I.) Sandbox. These risk-managed platforms enable start-ups and financial institutions to develop innovative solutions with regulatory guidance and technical support. The partnership connects start-ups with HKMA initiatives including Project Ensemble and e-HKD Pilot Programme, advancing Hong Kong’s development in asset tokenisation and Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). It also facilitates financial institutions’ participation in the Anti-money Laundering Regtech Lab to promote RegTech development and adoption.
Greater Bay Area Development
- Building FinTech talent bridges across the Greater Bay Area (GBA)

Our GBA Fintech Two-Way Internship Scheme for Post-secondary Students, launched with FSTB and over 30 FinTech companies, offers two-to-six-month, full-time, subsidised internships across GBA cities, including Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai. The programme nurtures talent and strengthens regional FinTech development through cross-city experience.
